NYC

I made my now-annual trip to New York without students this summer.  Instead, it turned into a family get-together (minus Ben and Sam, sadly) that was delightful and full of all of the things that we like doing there:

And discovering new favorites (the new expansion of their Egypt wing is great!)

Trying new delicious treats (rose gelato!)

And trying new not-so-delicious treats (this would be a hot dog in a crepe from a Japanese cafe)

and, of course, seeing a lot of shows.  That’ll get its own post, though.

While at the Rocky Mountain Retreat this year, which is always held at the YMCA of the Rockies near Winter Park, some of my friends were talking about arranging family reunions at that facility.  The cabins we get are great spaces, but they all gush about the beauty of the mountains, all of the outdoor activities they could do there, how nice it would be to get away from it all, etc.

I am more than thrilled that when we do family reunions, we do it in Marriotts in Manhattan.  I’ll take art museums and theatre over archery and horseback riding any day.
