While chatting with the cashier at Trader Joe’s this morning, I mentioned I was a teacher.

“Bless you!” she said. “What grade do you teach?”

“Middle school,” I replied.

“Oh my god!” she said, then she stuck out her hand. “Thank you so much for your service,” she said with complete sincerity as she shook my hand.
