I’ve had a bad run at school that started with catching a kid cheating and that kid’s mom being so enraged that I would punish her daughter for “working with her boyfriend” that she escalated her arguments through the vice principal, the principal, and up to the superintendent (I showed her the identical paragraphs that was their answer to a question that started “In your own words.”  Mom insisted that her daughter was just following my instructions and that her kids assured her that everyone copies everyone in my class and I clearly just hate her kids), and then things at school went downhill from there.

Which is why I’m really looking forward to spending a week in Paris with five of my favorite people.
