… Without some mysterious bug bites!
After our bike trip through the rice paddies, I found what I thought were mosquito bites on my leg:
But then they developed little bubbles:
I’m pretty sure they’re not mosquito bites (especially since I also have “normal” mosquito bites in other places on my legs).
Aside from continued itchiness, they’re not getting any worse; so I’m pretty sure I’m not going to die from these bites.

Those look like spider bites to me.

A mother would say to use antibiotic ointment to keep them from getting infected. I'll make sure Dad checks this out also.
